John David Rainwater, 77, of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. No services are scheduled at this time. A private inurnment was held at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, Missouri.
John was born on July 17, 1942 to John and Margie (Metcalf) Rainwater in Pryor, Oklahoma. He grew up in Granby, Missouri, but later moved to Kansas City, and eventually settled in Harrisonville. His career was spent as an over-the-road truck driver for ABF, where has stayed for 25 years before retiring. Prior to being a truck driver though he worked construction and was also a bouncer for the local bars.
He married Elizabeth Wolken on August 26, 1976, and they have enjoyed 43 years of marriage. He enjoyed traveling and taking trips with his wife, but his true passion was cheering on his Kansas City Chiefs each season, especially as he watched them take their second Super Bowl title this year.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Samual Rainwater.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Rainwater of the home; his children: Arlene Rainwater of Aurora, MO; Sharon Rainwater of Webb City, MO; Jim Rainwater of Neosho, MO; Les (Shawndel) Rainwater of Neosho, MO; and Lisa Rainwater of Mt. Vernon, MO; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 half brothers: Donnie Rainwater, Rick Pollard, and Roger Pollard; and his half-sister, Brenda Castille.
