Ruth Provance

Ruth Maxine Provance, age 94, Joplin, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Westgate of the Communities of Wildwood.

Ruth was born April 28, 1927 in Tyrone, Missouri, daughter of the late Willie Gooch and Vada Edna (McKinney) Gooch. She moved to Joplin in 1932 and graduated from Joplin High School in 1946. 

She married Ward Provance on August 23, 1946 in Joplin, he preceded her in death on November 2, 2009. She worked for the Connor Hotel, Gates Drug Store, and with the Girl Scouts.






 

She was one of ten children, and was the last survivor. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd Gooch, Floyd Cooch, Clennis Gooch, Robert Gooch, and Patrick Gooch; sisters, Marie Tucker, Ruby Clogston, Darlene Weaver, and Mary Lou Allison. She was also devastated by the lost of her son, Jim Provance who passed away on November 12, 1994.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Ann Hoagland and husband Kenny of Joplin; granddaughters, Kim Branham and husband Brian of Granby, Missouri, and Julie Turner and husband Jason of Joplin; great-granddaughters, Maddie Bollin, Bailey Bollin, Emilea Branham, and Olivia Bollin; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins, especially her favorite and most special cousin, Irene Peters of Joplin.

The family would like to thank the staff and Doctors with Three Rivers Hospice, Communities of Wildwood Ranch, and Westgate of Communities of Wildwood for their loving care of Ruth.

Graveside service will be Friday, July 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bob Simon officiating and family serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions are requested to the donor’s favorite charity.
