Suzy Grant

(From Parker Mortuary)

Susan Grant, 76, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Suzy, as she preferred, was born October 20, 1948 in Joplin, daughter of the late Frank Anderson and Elsie (Hodges) Anderson. She grew up in Joplin, and graduated from Joplin High School. She met the love of her life, Larry, at a drive-in movie theater in 1966. They instantly fell deeply in love.

Before shipping out to serve his country in Vietnam, he asked Suzy to marry him; she accepted and they were united on October 29, 1966. The couple shared 58 years of marital bliss and were blessed with two baby boys, Larry Jr. and James.

Suzy briefly worked outside the home, but her true calling was being a devoted and passionate mother, wife, and homemaker. She served her family with her time, energy, and love. Her boys grew into men and when grandchildren came into the picture, Suzy was ecstatic to become Grandma. She found a whole new purpose in caring for and profoundly loving her new babies. She played an integral role in each of her grandkids' childhoods and gave to them an unceasing love. They each hold a very special place in their hearts for Grandma Suzy that will ensure her memory and her love is carried on for the next generations.

Quite a few of that next generation was able to experience her love firsthand as she had 11 great grandchildren with the 12th on his way. Suzy doted on her great grandchildren and loved to watch them play when they visited. She found peace in having them present and each of them was simply perfect in her eyes. Susan Grant left this earth, but in her place she left behind a legacy of love in her family that will continue on in the hearts and souls of its members for eternity.

In addition to her parents, Suzy was preceded in death by a sister, Vickie Thrasher, and a brother, Walter Anderson.

Suzy is survived by her husband Larry Grant; sons Larry Grant Jr. and James (Ashley) Grant; five adored grandchildren, Cody (Brittany) Grant, Ashley (Jason) Brown, Stephen (Kelly) Grant, Logan (Taylor) Grant, and Sydney Spencer; and 12 cherished great grandchildren: Emma, Michael, and Hunter Grant; Abigail and Maverick Brown; Jordan, Ethan, Brooklyn, Marlee, Robert, and Brynlee Grant; and Baby Silas due in April.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
