(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Damian Colbert, 37, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on August 13, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Born on November 25, 1987, Damian lived life with a big heart, a loud laugh, and an even louder engine.
A proud father, Damian is survived by his father, Don Colbert; his dude & son, Korbyn Colbert; his siblings, Delonte Colbert (Wife Stephanie, Nephew Garyn & Camden Colbert) and Doniqua Colbert; and his cherished cousins, Ciera Colbert, Typhanee Colbert, and Nathan Colbert, —along with countless extended family members (aunts, uncles and cousins). He also leaves behind a brotherhood of lifers who were family in every way: Phillip Myers, Scott Harlin, Scott Aiken, Evan Slaughter, Ryan Johnson, Justin Jarmin, and Antoine Simon.
Damian’s passions in life could be summed up in three words—Cars, Chiefs, and Cuisine. A loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan, he never missed a chance to cheer on his team. He loved good food, great company, and any excuse for someone to fire up the grill or gather at the table. Anything with wheels had Damian’s heart—cars, trucks, motorcycles—and he had a knack for customizing and making them his own. If it could go faster, Damian would make it happen. If it could be bigger, he’d find someone to build it. And if it could be louder, you could bet it would rumble so hard you’d feel it in your chest.
His happy place was always on the water. Many years ago, he bought a boat, and from the first warm day of spring to the last day of summer, he could be found on the lake—blasting music loud enough to turn heads and taking waves like only the chief could.
In 2021, Damian was diagnosed with diabetes, a challenge that brought its share of struggles. But through it all, his determination, humor, and love for those around him never wavered.
Damian will be remembered for his big presence, his unstoppable energy, his larger-than-life smile and his unwavering love for his family and friends. His life may have been cut too short, but he lived every moment at full throttle.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, at Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
