Evelyn Stansberry

Evelyn Joan Stansberry, age 85, passed away Wednesday evening August 13, 2025, at her home following an illness.

Evelyn was born December 23, 1939 in Galena, KS. Her parents were Evin Andrew and Viola Josephine (Hill) Stark. She was proud of the Delaware Indian legacy she received through her mother’s lineage. She had lived in Carl Junction since 1973, moving from Guam.







She graduated from Joplin (MO) High School with the class of 1957. In February 1961, she entered the U S Navy, serving until October 1961. She worked as an engineering technician at LaBarge in Joplin for 6 years and later she was employed at the Citizen Bank of Carl Junction for 5 years until her retirement in 2001.

She attended the Well United Methodist Church, Carl Junction, MO. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Carl Junction, and Faith Chapter #334 Order of the Easter Star, Carl Junction.

Evelyn married Billy Gene Stansberry Sr. on July 29, 1961 in San Diego, CA. He survives.

Additional survivors include one son, Billy Gene Stansberry Jr (Pam), Joplin one daughter, Sherri Joann Wilbert (Alan), Carl Junction; one brother, Robert Lee Stark, Joplin; one sister, Rosemary Josephine Hamilton, Racine, MO; five grandchildren, Shauna Stansberry, Shea Gunlock (Luke), Lauren Repsher (Christian), Skylan Stansberry and Le Germiniani: and six great-grandchildren, Luca Germiniani, Mila Germiniani, Kaio Germiniani, Cameron Repsher, Kyntlee Gunlock, and Sierra Repsher. She is also survived by an honorary daughter, Sharon Rogers and good friends, Harold and Betty Mueller.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Andrew Stark.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, August 18, 2025 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Bob Simon will officiate. Burial will be at Carl Junction Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 pm, Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
