(From Clark Funeral Home)Karon Lewis Crosby, aged 84, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family in his home in Ottawa, KS.
Born on December 22, 1940, in Splitlog, Missouri. He was the youngest of five siblings. He graduated from Anderson High School and went on to join the Air Force. He was stationed in Texas and California. Afterwards he returned to Goodman and worked at Eagle-Picher and Rocketdyne before he then joined City Service Gas Company (aka Southern Star Pipeline) where he worked until he retired after 30 years.
Karon married his wife, Peggy Wilson, on December 27, 1968. He embraced his role as a stepfather wholeheartedly, offering guidance, love, and support for her two children. He built a family not only through marriage, but through the countless acts of care and devotion he shared every day.
Karon was a beloved husband, father, and papa. He loved golfing-and would play any chance he got. He also enjoyed fishing, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and traveling with the love of his life, Peggy. Some of their favorite travel destinations included Colorado, Myrtle Beach, and Branson, where they created many cherished memories together. At home, Karen loved piddling around in his yard and garage. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix-he had a knack for making things work again.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy, and his children Diane Fry (spouse Kent), Doug Morris (spouse, Megan), and Ann Crosby, along with 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who he adored. He is also survived by his sister, Eloise Smith, two sisters-in-law, Edna Crosby of Joplin, Missouri, and Joan Crosby of Neosho, Missouri, many friends and extended family. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ernest and Martha Crosby, and two brothers, Vernon and Elmo Crosby, and sister, Maxine Shaver, and one great-grandchild, Wilson Korte.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, Missouri. A Graveside Service at Gibson Cemetery in Neosho, Missouri will take place on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
