Shirley Plummer

Shirley Louise Plummer, 88, Diamond, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025, at her home. She was born on February 6, 1937, the daughter of the late William Lewis Lindley and Aline Virginia (Greninger) Lindley. Shirley was a beacon of love and friendship to all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Diamond High School's class of 1955, Shirley's life was a testament to the values of family, hard work, and community. She dedicated her life to the role of a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home where laughter and love were always in abundance. Shirley's door was always open, and her kitchen was the heart of many family gatherings. Shirley married the love of her life, Joe Arthur Plummer, on November 24, 1955, in Diamond; he preceded her in death on April 10, 2016.








Shirley's faith was an integral part of her life, and she attended the First Baptist Church in Diamond. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her daily life and in the loving way she treated others. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as tending to her flower beds and nurturing her garden. Her green thumb brought beauty to her home and joy to those who had the pleasure of seeing her creations.

Survivors include her loving children, Janis Updegraff (Larry), Carthage, and William "Wayne" Plummer (Debbie), Joplin; her cherished grandchildren, Angelia Ruiz, Melissia Ruiz, Alyssa Plummer, Tyler Dobbins, Kristi Goade, Stacie Brane, and Amanda Love; her adored great-grandchildren, Alyc Ruiz, Lexi Plummer, Layton Dobbins, Jacob Goade, Akaysha Mitchell, Gabbi Brane, Kaden Brane, Levi Plummer, and Riley Carroll; her great-great-grandchild, Maverick Goade; her sister, Pat Thurman; her sister-in-law, Della Lindley; and many extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Lewis Lindley and Roy Lindley.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, September 5, 2025, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. The burial will follow at the Diamond Cemetery, Diamond, Missouri.
