Kenneth 'Ken' Worley, Sr. age 76, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Joplin Gardens following a lengthy illness.
Ken was born October 4, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Walter LeRoy and Elene Leora Jones Worley. He attended grade school in several towns before finally moving to Joplin and going to Royal Heights for 5th and 6th grade, South Joplin Jr. High and then graduated from Neosho High School in 1957. During his years in Joplin, Ken was both a Cub and Boy Scout, reaching the highest level in both divisions, his Eagle Scout that he was very proud of.
He married Darleen Davis in 1957 and they had two sons, Kenneth Jr. and Christopher.
In 1974, Ken married Rachel Joetta Miller who had Kathy, Deanna and Daryl. To this entire union, 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren have joined the family.
Ken worked as a Toolmaker and Machinist. He was a foreman for several companies and general manager of Evan and Associates from 1979-1986 where he designed and built tools while running Evan's. In 1986, Ken and Ken, Jr. started Quality Tool until 2001.
He was very proud of his Native American heritage. Ken was former Chief of The Cherokee Neutral Lands. However, his greatest love was his children and family. Additional survivors include brothers, James and John Worley
Other than his parents, a son, Kerry and a sister, Karen preceded Ken in death.
A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, August 9 at 6:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary with visitation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Joplin Elk's Lodge #501 Benevolence Fund in which Ken was very active as past Exalted Ruler and District Deputy.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
