Betty Wagner

Betty Jean (Tillock) Wagner, 87, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage, Missouri.

Betty was born on January 22, 1931 in rural Sarcoxie to the union of the late August and Polly Ann (Briner) Tillock. She was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School. On October 20, 1951 at the St. Peters Catholic Church in Joplin, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Alfred Joseph “A.J.” Wagner. Together they shared fifty-six years until his passing on July 13, 2008. They made their home in various parts of the United States including, California, Illinois, Idaho, Florida and Louisiana. After A.J.’s retirement they returned home to Sarcoxie. She was a devoted homemaker and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sarcoxie, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Kevin Joseph Wagner; siblings, Clarence Tillock, Leo Tillock, Russell Tillock, Lloyd Tillock, William Tillock and Maxine Palmer.

Betty is survived by her children, Stephen Wagner of Sarcoxie, Missouri, Chris Wagner (Melonie) of Port Charlotte, Florida and Barbara Meyers (William) of Auburndale, Florida; three grandchildren, Matthew Meyers (Erin), Danielle (Meyers) Mattiello (Cody) and Jacob Wagner; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial for Betty will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, November 6, 2018, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sarcoxie with Father Matthew Rehrauer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-7:00 p.m. in the Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Jacob Wagner, Chris Wagner, Ron Wagner, Ken Wagner, Joe Wagner and Pat Wagner.
