Kenneth Gates

Kenneth Lee Gates, Sr., 76, Neosho, entered into rest on July 9, 2021 in Joplin, following a short illness. Kenneth was born Feb. 13, 1945 in Wheaton, Missouri, the son of Guy E. and Dorothy M. (Noblin) Gates. He was a lifelong area resident. 

Kenneth served his country making the military his career, serving in Vietnam and in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy for thirty five years, retiring in 2005. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion, enjoyed fishing, was a talented painter and loved to read. He was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church. 








He married Exa F. (Lammert) on Sept. 11, 1971 in Shawnee, Kansas and they shared 49 years together. 

In addition to his wife, Exa, Kenneth is survived by three sons, Wilburn (Rachel) Gates of Gardner, Kansas, Kenneth Lee, Jr. (Bonnie) Gates of Grandview, Missouri and Eric Dwayne Gates of Neosho; thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Gates.
