J. R. Jones

James Richard “J.R.” Jones, age 91, Joplin, passed away on March 8, 2022 at Joplin Health and Rehab.

J.R. was born August 2, 1930 in Baxter Springs, Kansas, son of the late George H. Jones and Cleo D. (Galyon) Jones. He worked for years as a truck driver with Yellow Freight and an active member of Harmony Heights Baptist Church. J.R. enjoyed time spent with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid bowler and rode with the Goldwing Road Riders. His family will remember his story telling and how he enjoyed making memories with family swimming in the last few years.






 

In addition to his parents, J.R. was preceded in death by four siblings and a grandchild, Kirk Alan Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virgina Jones, of Joplin; four sons, David Ray Jones, and his wife, Kathy, Kenny Dale Jones, Steven Douglas Jones, and Rick Alan Jones, all of Joplin; three step-children, Vicki Lang, of UT, Neel Larson, of FL, and Keith Larson, and his wife, LuAnne, of AR; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and his special furry friend, Tina.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Charlie Burnett officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 9th at Parker Mortuary from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
