Gary Wilson

Gary Dennis Wilson was born on May 10, 1945 in Albien, Michigan to Vedra Viola (Stansbury) Wilson and Linn Wilson. Gary passed away on January 7, 2025 in Anderson, Missouri.

Gary was raised in Joplin, Missouri and graduated from Joplin High School. After graduating, Gary served his country honorably in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller in Vietnam and continued in that profession after leaving the Air Force.








Gary married Sherre Ruth Wylie in 1985, and Sherre was his beloved wife and caregiver after Gary suffered traumatic brain injury in 2001 until her death in 2023. Gary was also preceded in death by his father, mother and brother, Alvy Wilson.

Before his brain injury, Gary was an avid fisherman, boater, motorcyclist and corvette owner. Gary and Sherre lived on Table Rock Lake for about 30 years, in a house designed by Gary, and greatly enjoyed the beauty of the area together.

Gary was loved by his nieces and nephews, and deeply and enduringly loved by his wife Sherre. Gary is survived by his sister-in-law, Jo Wylie Nageotte and husband Lonny and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their thankfulness to those at McDonald County Living Center who patiently and lovingly cared for Gary over the past two years.








A visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho, Missouri on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 3-4 pm. A private family interment will follow on January 13.
