(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)Thomas Dean Greathouse, affectionately known as Tom to his friends and family, departed this world on January 3, 2025, at the age of 63, in Sarcoxie, Missouri. Born on April 21, 1961, in Carthage, Missouri, Tom was a man of integrity and kindness who left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Tom was preceded in death by his loving mother, Nancy Greathouse; his sister, Teresa DeMasters; and his grandparents. His legacy and spirit live on through his family.
He is survived by his devoted sons, Heath Greathouse and his wife, Hailey, of Webb City, and Landon Greathouse of Carthage; his cherished grandchildren, Iva Louise Greathouse and Huxton Thomas Greathouse; his father, Curtis Roy Greathouse, and brother, Curtis Greathouse, both of Sarcoxie. His numerous nieces, and a broad circle of friends also remember him fondly.
A proud graduate of Sarcoxie High School, Tom's work ethic was evident to all who knew him. He dedicated many years to Leggett & Platt Wire Mill, where his commitment to his work was unwavering. Tom's colleagues respected him for his reliability and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
Tom's love for the great outdoors was a central part of his life. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found peace and joy in the serenity of nature. His passion for riding horses and frogging were more than hobbies—they were activities that brought him closer to the earth and its wonders. He was a member of Reeds Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Tom are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Sarcoxie Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers will be Ed Salyer, Garrett Hendry, Mark DeMasters, Kevin Guinn, Rick Greathouse and Brent Greathouse. Honorary pallbearer will be Ronnie Greathouse.
