Betty Joann Ford, age 87, Joplin, passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020 at National Health Care in Joplin, Missouri.
Betty was born December 20, 1932 in Rogers, Arkansas to the late John Griffin and Dovie McConnell Griffin. She was the oldest of fourteen children. Betty lived in the Joplin area all of her life.
Betty worked as a supervisor in the housekeeping industry and then for Joplin Health & Rehabilitation Center in dietary services before retiring after twenty years.
Betty loved flowers, gardening, reading and cooking. She was known for her homemade apple pies, which were a little slice of heaven. She will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
Betty married Jesse Lee Riggs in 1953, and to this union three children were born. She later married Robert Gerald Ford on February 14, 1964, and to this union one child was born.
In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by both her first and second husbands; a daughter, Vickie Sue Wagner; siblings, Johnny, Bill, Robert, Roy, Dorothy and Donald.
Additional survivors include her children, Miles McQuiston, Joplin, Missouri, Kathy Koelling, Joplin, Missouri, Robert Ford, Joplin, Missouri; grandchildren, Selena, Ted, Josh, Mariah and Taylor; siblings, Peg, Pat, Mary, JD, Sue, Rita and Paul; several nieces, nephews, extended family, and several special friends, both old and new.
Graveside Services will be held at Osborne Memorial Cemetery on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Alan McCamey will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
