Wilbur Michael Birthelmer, 92, Neosho, MO passed away March 1, 2020. He was born October 12, 1927 in Alliance, OH to Michael and Catherine (Platzner) Birthelmer.
Wilbur was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII. He had worked as a medical administrator. Wilbur was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Neosho, was a lifetime mason, Scottish Rite 33rd Degree, a member of Medical Group Management Association, and a Washington University alumni. He enjoyed traveling, playing in the stock market, watching baseball, football, and basketball. He was a fan of the Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Browns.
Wilbur married Vivian Luella Smallwood on May 27, 1961 in Wichita, KS; she passed away August 12, 2014.
He is survived by three children, Michael Birthelmer and fiancé, Amy Reagan of Neosho, MO, Alan Stewart and wife, Kathy of Augusta, KS, and Dee Stewart of Washington State; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim D. and Linda Smallwood of Neosho; a nephew, Jim L. Smallwood of Neosho; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Luella Birthelmer.
Services will be held 10 am Friday, March 6, 2020 at First Lutheran Church, Neosho with Reverend Steve Gillmore officiating. Interment will follow at Neosho IOOF Cemetery, Neosho. A time of visitation will begin Friday at 9:30 until service time at the Church.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to First Lutheran Church of Neosho, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, MO 64850.
