(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Brenda Kay Sorg, age 69, passed away at 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 1, 2021 at her home following an illness.
Brenda was born January 11, 1952 in Joplin, MO. Her parents were Clarence and Alice Elizabeth (Brewer) Wald. She moved to Galena one year ago from Joplin where she had lived most of her life.
She graduated from Parkwood High School, Joplin. She worked at Bagcraft, Baxter Springs, KS until her retirement after 31 years. She loved children and helped care for many of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed the peace of sitting on a river bank and drinking beer, her favorite beverage.
Surviving is one son, Kevin Sorg, (Tiffany), Broken Arrow, OK; two sisters, Jenny Leake, Joplin, MO and Linda Wilson, Webb City, MO; 8 grandchildren, Jessica Robinson, Stevana Clark, Kasey Reasner, Preston Sorg, Peyton Sorg, Phillip Sorg, Presley Sorg, and Paisley Sorg; 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Angie Reasner.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, MO. Melvin Myers will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
