(From Parker Mortuary)Louis “Gene” Wirick, 89, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in Webb City, MO. He was born on September 1, 1935, in Dowagiac, Michigan to the late Harold and Julia (Goodrich) Wirick.
Louis proudly served his country as a Marine. After his service, he embarked on a career that saw him behind the wheel of 18 wheelers and charter buses.
He had a passion for collecting various items. His weekends were often spent at flea markets, searching for hidden treasures and enjoying the simple pleasure of discovering something new or nostalgic.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Lee Ann Gilbert (Rick); step-daughter, Kayla Pekarek; step-grandchildren, Garrett Pekarek (Whitney) and Preston Pekarek; step-great-grandson, August Pekarek; and sister, Joyce Jordan.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Wirick and second wife, Betty Wirick; son, Ollie Wirick; and siblings, William Wirick and Janice Gaskill.
A graveside service is planned for Monday, August 11, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, MO with full military honors.
Arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, MO.
