(From Parker Mortuary)Dora May Hines, 94 of Carl Junction, passed away on April 29, 2026, in Joplin, MO. She was born on December 15, 1931, in Greeley, Colorado to the late William and Katherine (Olson) Burrows.
She graduated from Wann High School in 1950. After graduation, Dora May devoted much of her working life to the care of others. She served as a CNA at a nursing home and in home healthcare, where her compassion and steady presence brought comfort to countless people. She had a true passion for taking care of the elderly, and she approached that calling with patience, dignity, and genuine love. Her work was more than a job. It was a reflection of who she was at heart. She understood the value of a gentle hand, a listening ear, and a kind word, and she gave those gifts freely to the people in her care.
On September 30, 1952, Dora May married Bob Hines in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They later moved to Carl Junction where they resided for 60 years. Together, they raised 5 wonderful children.
Those who knew Dora May will remember her as a woman who was funny, witty, feisty, caring, and loving. She had a spirited personality and a way of speaking that could brighten a room and bring a smile to those around her. Her sense of humor and quick wit made her a joy to be around, while her feisty nature gave her a strength that others admired. Beneath that lively spirit was a deeply caring heart, one that showed itself in the way she treated others with respect, tenderness, and unwavering concern. Dora May also had a style all her own, and she was often recognized by the hats she loved to wear. That simple signature became part of her identity and reflected the grace and confidence with which she carried herself.
Dora May is survived by her children; Tom Hines, Jim Hines, Jeff Hines, and Pam Stewart (John); grandchildren, Tammy, Travis, Aimee, Jeremy, Dillon, Chad, Doug, Jason, Jessica, James, Renn, and Mechelle; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob Hines; son, Doug Hines; siblings, Emett, Elsie, Doyl, Chet, Howard, Everett, Dale, Donald, Hope, Harvey, Wayner, Florence, Ernie, Alfred, and Opal.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Carl Junction Cemetery in Carl Junction Missouri. Dora May will be available to view at the mortuary on Friday, May 1st at noon through Saturday, May 2nd at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands of Carl Junction.
