William E. 'Bill' Dean, age 70, Lamar, passed away at 2:10 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 at Truman Health Care Center after an illness.
Bill was born July 12, 1945 in Dover, New Jersey and had lived in the Joplin area since 1988, moving from New Jersey.
He worked as a traffic manager for Conde Nast Publications in New York for many years. He then worked at Display Tech in Carthage for several years. Bill was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam and a longtime member of the American Legion.
Bill married Bridget Scanlon on April 4, 1970 in New Jersey. She preceded him in death on December 28, 2012.
In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Amity Morris Dean and Ruth Ella Robinson Dean; a nephew, Jimmy Dean; one brother, Wayne Dean and a sister, Diann Suto.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandi McCoy and her husband, Steve, Joplin; two granddaughters, Kalli McCoy and Michaela McCoy, both of Joplin; one brother, Tim Dean and his wife, Marie, Alabama; three nephews, Danny Suto, wife, Dawn and their daughter, Angela, Amity Wayne Dean, Jr. and his son, Lyam, Brian Suto and his wife, Monica; and nieces, Ruth Hall and her husband, Dave, Roseann Carter and husband, Jason, Bonnny Wyatt, husband, Charles and their children, Devin, Jazmin and Savannah.
Memorial services are planned for Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Jeff D. Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert S. Thurman American Legion Post #13, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
