Bona Woods of Neosho, Missouri, daughter of the late Ernest and Lillie May (Lawson) Plumlee was born February 20, 1932 in Kings Hollow in Powell, Missouri. She departed this life on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri with her loving family by her side, at the age of 84 years.
Bona was born in Powell, Missouri. On July 15, 1950 in Bentonville, Arkansas she was united in marriage to Billie Woods and to this union four children were born. For several years she and Billie operated their own farm near Rocky Comfort, running numerous head of cattle. In 2000 he and Bona retired to Neosho, Missouri, where Bona worked for Wal-Mart for 25 years. Bona was a member of the Union Chapel Church near Bethpage, Missouri. She loved sewing, flower gardening, making quilts, birds and her dog and cat. Bona cherished time spent with her family and always looked forward to the family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Billie Woods; a daughter, Linda Woods; a brother, Keete Plumlee.
Bona is survived by her children, Jerry Woods and wife, Donna, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, Kathy Williams and husband, Andy, of Rocky Comfort, Missouri and Roger Woods and wife, Lori; nine grandchildren; Jennifer Poe, Leslie Bateman, Kendall Williams, Kurt Williams, Kyle Williams, Rebecca Woods, Zachariah Woods, Mark Grigg, Jr., and Zabrina Elington; 15 great grandchildren, Hayden Potter, Shacey Grigg, Haley Grigg, Paisley Bateman, Jillian Elington, Axeton Bateman, Weston Poe, Sophia Grigg, Caylie Williams, Kennedy Williams, Emmitt Williams and a beautiful great granddaughter on the way, Bonnie Doerr, Alexis Doerr and Colton Doerr.
Funeral services for Bona Woods are 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Union Chapel Church near Bethpage, Missouri with Brother Mark Sumler officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Union Cemetery near Stella, Missouri. Those honoring Bona's life by serving as pallbearers are Kendall Williams, Kurt Williams, Kyle Williams, Mark Grigg, Joey Bateman and Jason Poe. Zachariah Woods and Hayden Potter will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, June 9, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home.
