(From Konantz Warden Funeral Home)Today, May 18th, 2021, our dear mother, Frances LaVern Wakeem, was called home to Heaven.
Born August 29th, 1935 in Comanche, Ok to James Edward Moran & Ethel Mae Barnett Moran, she married Dale G. Wakeem on December 22, 1955 in Norman, Ok.
LaVern was the oldest of 3 sisters, Bettie Boorda (deceased) and Shirley Raney of Norman, OK.
After college, she and Dale moved to Missouri, farming & ranching, finally settling in Lamar, MO where they both enjoyed success. LaVern bought and renewed the Mode-O-Day dress shop on the square.
She and Dale had four darling children who all survive and grieve today: James Dale Wakeem, Alice Wakeem Stewart, Phoebe Diane Wakeem and Mona Wakeem Jarvis. Four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
After retirement, she moved to Springfield, MO to be near family. LaVern was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
