Vera Martin

Vera Ethel Martin, Nixa, MO, entered into rest May 9, 2021 at the age of 91 years, eight months, and seven days. She was born September 2, 1929 in El Reno, OK to Ruth (Anderson) and George Kee. 

Vera was co-owner of Martin Transfer and Storage and had worked in the medical records department of Sale Hospital and Freeman Hospital in Neosho. She volunteered with Freeman Health Auxiliary for 17 years. 

Vera was a member of First Baptist Church in Neosho. She loved to grow flowers, feed the birds, and was an avid reader and fisherwoman. She moved from Neosho to Nixa in 2015. 

Vera married Lewis Eugene “Toots” Martin on January 11, 1949 in Neosho; he preceded her in death on September 19, 2016. 

She is survived by six children, Debbie Barclay and husband, David of Arkansas City, KS, Dale Martin and wife, Mary of Diamond, MO, Dixie Sparks and husband, Doug of Neosho, MO, David Martin and wife, Barbara of Carthage, MO, Deanna Martin of Nixa, MO, and Dewane Martin and wife, Jerri of Neosho; fourteen grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. 

In addition to her husband, Vera was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janice Marie and a grandson, Dewane “Junior” Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, May 17, 2021 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho, MO, with Dr. Jerry Seigel officiating. Interment will follow at Gibson Cemetery, Neosho, MO. 

Cameron Hitt, Kyle Hitt, Davy Barclay, Brian Sparks, David Paul Martin, Nate Sparks, and Blake Garwood will serve as pallbearers. A time of visitation will begin at noon on Monday, until service time.
