Floyd Lewis

Floyd E. Lewis, 61, of Jay, Ok passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2022 at his home.

Floyd was born on August 19, 1960 to Doc and Ruth (Hankins) Lakey in McDonald County, Missouri, where he grew up and graduated from high school.


After graduation Floyd enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country for six years. During that time he began furthering his education and later received a bachelors degree in animal husbandry.








In 1976, Floyd met the love of his life Laura Moore. In 1996, the couple moved to Jay from Neosho, Missouri and they were married on August 19, 1997. He worked for Jerry’s Dock Construction as a barge driver and welder.

Floyd described himself as stubborn and ornery but underneath he had a huge heart and expressed his love by acts of service and the best hugs. He enjoyed all things outdoors and his favorite color was camo. He and his hunting buddies looked forward to their annual trip to “the Rendezvous” deer camp in Spavinaw.

Floyd is preceded in death by his mother.

Left to cherish his memory his father, Doc Lakey, wife, Laura Lewis; children: Starla Floyd (Richard) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Bryan Fanning of Neosho, Missouri, Natalya Moffett of Eucha, Oklahoma, LaSystra Childers (Joshua) of Greenwood, Arkansas and Trystan Lewis (Baylee) of Jay, Oklahoma; Brothers, Daniel Lakey and David Lakey, both of Pineville, Missouri and 8 grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at 2pm on Saturday July 23, 2022, at Nichols Stephens funeral chapel.
