Marlene Wren

Marlene Wren, age 84, of Webb City, passed away January 1, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Marlene was born March 2, 1936 in Anderson, Missouri to the union of the late Sherman and Mable (Cooper) Crosby. She was raised in Splitlog, Missouri, where she attended schools. Marlene was a self-employed housekeeper and cared for her clients for over 40 years.

Marlene was raised in the Pentecostal faith and was last a member of Lone Elm Pentecostal, a church she belonged to for over 30 years. She was always willing to jump in the car and take off as traveling was an adventure she was up for. 








 Marlene loved to visit Silver Dollar City and she could cook up a storm. She enjoyed watching baseball and loved her Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. Marlene loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She proudly wore a smile, even on the hardest days, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

On November 25, 1960, Marlene was united in marriage to Glen Howard Wren and he preceded her in death on December 18, 2006. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sheryl Ann, and all of her siblings.

She is lovingly survived by two daughters, Janice Lansaw and husband, LeeRoy, of Carterville and Vicki Smith of Webb City; step-daughter, LaDonn Weir of Hayesville, Kansas; grandchildren, Cheryl Smith and wife, Marqie, of Joplin, Gary Smith of Webb City, Matthew Lansaw and wife, Keysha, of Joplin, Andrew Lansaw of Carl Junction, Robby Lansaw of Oklahoma City, Traci Goss and husband, Goose, of Wichita, and Shannon Bagby and husband, Sean, of McPherson, Kansas; numerous great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin with Pastor Phil Erwin officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Blake Ogle, Gary Smith, Cheryl Smith, LeeRoy Lansaw, Matthew Lansaw, and Andy Lansaw. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
