Connie Stamps

Connie Lou Stamps, 89, Odessa Florida, died January 4, 2023, at Watermark Assisted Leaving Center.

Mrs. Stamps was born October 16, 1933, in Milan, Missouri one of five children of Howard Rodgers and Alma Pearl Rodgers (McClaren). All her siblings proceeded her in death, Doris Mae Brown, Betty June Stucker, Bonnie Sue Burress, and Howard Paul Rodgers.









Connie started her work career as a stock runner at EF Hutton and an electronic assembler at Western Electric. She then found her real career passion and trained to be a travel consultant and treasurer in the travel business and became an expert. 

Connie made a bold move in the early 80s by taking her knowledge of travel and finance to start Travel Corporation of Independence. She hired and trained gifted travel agents to build a multimillion-dollar agency in what was then a male dominated business. Connie traveled all over the world including China, Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean so she could personally recommend awesome vacation destinations for her clients. Grand Cayman was one of her favorites.







Connie moved to Odessa Florida 3 years ago with her husband, to spend more time with her daughter in her golden years, after years spent in Independence, Missouri.

Connie was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day. She was a lifelong believer of God and his son Jesus. Her savior’s grace and beauty were extended in her everyday activities to all those she touched. Connie was known as one of the kindest people ever met. She loved to cook for all her friends and was known for the best pecan pie and brittles. Connie was a wonderful wife and loving mother. She will be missed immensely.

Her survivors include her husband of over 62 years, Billy Gene Stamps of the home, one daughter, Candy Lou Stamps Mitchell and husband Mark Mitchell of Odessa FL; four grandchildren Jennifer and Eric Mitchell of Blue Springs, Brian and Janine Mitchell of Blue Springs MO; six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and loving friends.

Services will be 1:00pm Friday January 13, 2023, at Clark Funeral Home 312 S Wood St., Neosho, MO. The burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery, Stella MO.
