Lou Ann Cook

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Lou Ann Cook was born on December 16, 1937, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to Ernest Variee and Althea Tressa (Howard) Walker. She entered into rest on January 18, 2024, in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her family after a yearlong battle with cancer. Lou Ann was 86.

The Walker family relocated to Boulder City, Missouri, in 1947 from Stillwater, Oklahoma. Lou Ann graduated from Granby High School in 1956.

On June 17, 1955, in the community of Sweetwater, Lou Ann and Robert Norwood Cook were united in marriage. Norwood preceded her in death on December 7, 1997. Lou Ann worked at Sale Memorial Hospital as a switchboard operator before becoming a full-time homemaker. In the mid-1970’s she obtained her real estate license which began an almost fifty-year career as a realtor. She worked at Wheel Realty in Carthage, followed by Century 21 and then Charles Burt Realty as a broker/realtor before retiring in December 2023.

Lou Ann enjoyed gardening, camping, her annual holiday baking with family, and cooking for family and friends. First and foremost, her favorite hobby was caring for her family. She was also passionate about her real estate career and took pride in mentoring those beginning their own careers in real estate. She was a lifetime member of the church of Christ.

Lou Ann is survived by two children: Ronna Cook Patterson of Carthage, Missouri, and Alan Cook and wife, M'lle of Granby, Missouri; four granddaughters: Breanna Cook of St. Joseph, Missouri, Chelsey Marks and husband, Chandler of San Antonio, Texas, Kathryn Patterson of Norman, Oklahoma, Kendace Bien and husband, Brodie of Pierce City, Missouri; three great grandchildren: Parker Bien, Bryant Marks, Walker Bien and great granddaughter Marks, due to arrive in March; and one sister, Emagene Walker Delano of Yukon, Oklahoma.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Mava Variee Walker, a brother, Luther Howard Walker, and an infant grandson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions in memory of Lou Ann be directed to Neosho Christian Schools or Fairhaven Children's home in Strafford, Missouri, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, MO 64850.
