(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Eddie L. Taylor, age 65 of Joplin, passed away at 1:02 PM on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Freeman West Hospital.
Eddie was born in Webb City, MO on July 27, 1959, the son of Ada Ruth Crunkleton and David Crunkleton. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army and served until a training accident required a medical discharge. He later attended Pittsburg State where he earned his credentials as a ASE Certified Mechanic and worked as a self-employed mechanic for nearly all of his adult life.
He enjoyed collecting NASCAR memorabilia, working at the church, obsessively drinking coffee, spending time with his kids and grandkids, and riding his motorcycle as long as his health allowed. He was a member and trustee at the Galena Assembly of God.
Eddie was united in marriage with Paula Kay (Lee) Taylor in Joplin, MO on October 31, 1983. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2020.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, David and Ruth Crunkleton; and two brothers, David and Cecil Taylor.
Survivors include one daughter, Marianne Gideon (husband, TJ) of Independence, MO; two sons, Eric Taylor (wife, Nicole), and Isaiah Taylor both of Joplin; six grandchildren, Rebekah (husband, Antonio), Sarah, Eric, Isaac, Alana-Li, Declan; and one great-grandchild, Isla; two sisters, Marilyn Stewart (husband, Wayne) of Purcell, MO, and Glenda Crouch of Carl Junction, MO; and one very special nephew, Jesse Griffith.

Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the Galena Assembly of God. Pastor Doug Melugin will officiate. Pallbearers serving will be TJ Gideon, Isaiah Taylor, Eric Taylor, Jesse Griffith, Joe Stewart, and Kevin Markle.
Visitation hours will take place from 6-7:00 PM on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the church.
