(From Lakin Funeral Home)Marie Eileen Wormington, age 77, of Pierce City, MO passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. She was born in Bloomington, IL on Thursday, January 23, 1947; daughter of Eugene and Mildred (Essex) Welsandt. Marie was a 1966 graduate of Monett High School. She married Roy Wormington, Sr. on Monday, November 20, 1978 in Oklahoma.
Marie worked as a Certified Med Tech at Lacoba Homes and Leisure Living and finished her career by retiring after working over 20 years at Thompson Drug Store in Pierce City, MO.
Marie enjoyed watching birds, listening to Elvis, and spending time with her cat, Buttons. Marie collected angels, Elvis memorabilia, Baby Yodas, and Beanie Babies. She loved her community and people. Marie gave to many charities and always wanted to help those in need. She will be missed by many.
Surviving are the following: one son, Eugene Clapper of Fredericksburg, VA; four daughters, Sheila Crudup of Richmond, VA, Jeannette Wormington of Neosho, MO, Belinda Kellerman of Forsyth, MO, and Rose Prier of Verona, MO; twelve grandchildren, Dakota, Willie, Rachel, Edson, Jasmine, Daisy, Carlos, Greyson, Reyse, Dusty, Hailee, and Shane; two great-grandchildren, Hendrix, and one on the way; and many friends.
Those welcoming Marie to heaven include her parents, Eugene and Mildred; her husband, Roy; a son, Roy Wormington, Jr; a granddaughter, Angel Dillard; and a brother, Ronald Welsandt.
The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

Funeral service will be at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Saturday, January 25, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM with Pastor Kendall Arndt officiating. Burial will follow at Pierce City Cemetery in Pierce City, MO.
Memorials may be made, in Marie's honor, to the Pierce City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
