(From Parker Mortuary)Ermal Lee Dunnington, age 97, of Joplin, entered into his heavenly home on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
Ermal was born on February 23, 1927, in Atlanta, MO, to the late union of Ursal and Florence (Crow) Dunnington. He enlisted in the United States Army on September 30, 1946, was a World War II veteran and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge on June 5, 1947. He worked as a warehouseman for Goodyear and Firestone for over 30+ years.
He enjoyed sitting on the porch taking in the sunshine, gardening, antique shopping, and visiting with friends and family. Ermal was a down to earth, honest, kind, gentle and happy guy. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Ermal is survived by his six children, Richard Dunnington and wife, Bonnie, Connie Smith, Jo Dunnington, Mary Cupp and husband, Michael, Teresa Barker, and James Dunnington; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made out to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Prayers will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Interment to follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with James Dunnington, Tom Smith, Matt Cupp, Gabe Cupp and Curtis Jones serving as pallbearers. A mass will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
