(From Paul Thomas Funeral Home)Drue Cherle Chambers was born on November 13, 1942 in Kansas City Missouri to Edith Mildred (Easley) and Maurice Virgil Losey. She left us to go to her eternal home in heaven on June 28. 2025 after a seventeen year battle with cancer. She was 82 years old.
After Drue’s birth, her family moved from Kansas City to Wichita Kansas and then to San Jose California while her father trained and worked on aircraft used during the war. After the war, the family settled in Fort Worth Texas where they lived until her parents’ divorce in 1950.
Drue moved with her mother to Merced California where her mother’s family had settled. She attended Catholic school and church, and she accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. She enjoyed singing with her extended family and exploring the vineyards while in California as well as running into a few celebrities.
In the next few years, Drue and her mother had an adventure living several places in the country including living briefly in Georgia and then settling in Joplin Missouri. In those years she was blessed with the birth of her half-sisters Debra June Losey and Catherine Marie Galbreath, and half-brother Joel Lee Pettit.
As a teen, Drue was anxious to begin her life on her own. She moved to Miami Oklahoma and married Ronald Eugene Chambers on October 4, 1959, and the young couple was blessed with four children, Curtis Scott, Terri Lynn, Todd Anderson and Ronda Mae.
Drue thoroughly enjoyed her years as a parent. She loved to cook, sew and garden while building a life for her family. As her children grew she completed nursing school and worked at various hospitals and doctors’ offices in Joplin, Miami, Tulsa and Texas. At the end of her nursing career she became a home health nurse in Miami and surrounding area, then retired from nursing in 2001.
In her later years, Drue spent many hours researching her ancestry. She and Ron even took a trip to Kentucky to explore their ancestry more in depth. She became our family historian. It was important to her to pass along the family history to her grandchildren.
Drue is predeceased by her grandparents, Jeanette (Sanders) and Virgil Losey, Ora Mae (Fleetwood) and Bart Easley; her parents, Maurice Losey and Edith (Easley) Morgan, her husband Ronald, her sister, Catherine (Galbreath) Evans and her infant grandson, Drue Charles Osborn.
She is survived and will be missed by her children, Scott and Cindy Chambers, Buddy and Terri Moore, Todd and Tina Chambers, and Chris and Ronda Osborn; her grandchildren, Nathan and Desi Moore, Anthony and Kristin Chambers, Curtis and Jessica Chambers, Garrett and Kayla Davis, and Preston and Ashleigh Osborn; her great-grandchildren, Drue Charlotte Chambers, Christopher Chambers, Denver Davis and Naomi Osborn; her sister, Debra June Gideon and her brother, Joel and Lynn Pettit.
Drue had a special place in her heart for animals as well as American veterans. She requested any memorial gifts be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were placed in the care of Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK. Online condolences may be made at www.paulthomasfuneralhomes.com.
