Joyce Clements, age 89, passed away at Freeman Hospital in Joplin June 2, 2016.
He was born May 5th, 1927 in Lamar to Lee and Ruth (Joyce) Clements. Joyce grew up on the farm helping his dad and eventually took over the operation from his folks. He married Wuanita “June” Burkhart August 27, 1949 in Bentonville, AR. Farming and Cattle were his life long occupation except for his service in the Navy toward the end of WWII. He is a past president of the Barton County Water District and was on the Board of the Lamar Bank and Trust from 1975 until 2004. He also had a non-commercial pilots license and enjoyed flying.
Joyce is survived by his two daughters, Janet and husband, Bud Maupin, and Jill and husband, Gary Fast, both of Lamar; four grandchildren, Stacy Maguire and husband Trevor, of Charlotte, NC, Julie Whyman and husband, Dan, of Lamar, Kyle Fast of Lamar, and Samantha “Sammy” Fast and fiancĂ© Jason Carl, of Joplin; four great-grandchildren, Lauren, Matt and Miles Whyman of Lamar and Jayden Maguire of Charlotte, NC, and a great grand daughter due in July.
