Phillip Brian "Pops" Elam, age 83, lifelong Joplin resident, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Spring River Christian Village.
Pops was born May 27, 1933 in Joplin, son of the late Clyde and Betty Elam. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1952, and worked at Elam's Service Station at 26th and Main for over 30 years with his father Clyde. He later worked for Mid-Western Service Station at 15th and Illinois. He enjoyed NASCAR, Monster Trucks, and Tractor Pulls, and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Pops was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Joyce, a daughter, Cheryl, and a brother, Bill Elam and his wife Penny.
Survivors include his daughters, Cyndi Annis and husband Robert of Weir, Kansas, and Christi Green and husband Shawn of Baxter Springs, Kansas; grandchildren, Brandon, Brandy, Meeka, Destiny, Megan, and Carly; 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with interment to follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Monday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
