Douglas Powell age 61 of Webb City passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Webb City Health & Rehab surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born in Webb City to William and Virginia Powell on February 18, 1956. Doug was a United States Army veteran and worked at Wal-Mart in management, was a Webb City police officer for many years, loved woodworking, loved watching his sports, and was a member of the Carterville Christian Church.
He married Gloria (Sullivan) Powell on August 7, 1993 in Joplin Missouri and she survives him at their home. Doug is also survived by his daughters, Breanna Powell of Wyandotte, Christina Powell of South Carolina; son, Dustin Powell of South Carolina; step-daughter, Michelle Tullis and husband Chuck of Carl Junction; step-son, Matt Berry and wife Heather of Webb City; sisters, Connie Grimes of Webb City, Rose Puckett of Webb City; brothers, Steve Powell of Virginia, David Powell of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Brandon Berry and wife Courtney of Orlando, Haidyn Berry of Webb City; great grandson, Brock Christopher Berry; and two very special little girls, Bella and Evie.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City with Pastor Robin Seigerts officiating. If you would like to visit with the family, Gloria will be receiving family and friends at Matt and Heather Berry’s home at 1125 Cardinal Circle, Webb City, MO 64870. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the Carterville Christian Church (Feed the Heart), or to Saint Anthony’s Cemetery in Weir, Kansas in his memory.
