John Thurston Butler, 80, formerly a Neosho resident, entered into rest Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 in Webb City, MO.
John was born June 10, 1937 in St. Louis, MO, son of John Raymond Clinton and Elsie Belle (Thurston) Butler. He had lived most of his life in the Southwest MO area. John attended Columbia and PSU, receiving both a BS and Masters of Education, Music and had worked as a professional musician and public school music educator. He was a member of the Rocketdyne Road Church of Christ in Neosho.
John married Lesta Pearl White on Dec. 25, 2005 in Neosho; she preceded him in death on Nov. 19, 2013. John is survived by his son, Norman Butler of Carl Jct., MO. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Thuyen Mi Thi Doan, his parents, and mother of his son, Anna Butler Hill.
Services will be held Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories at 2:00 p.m., with Denny Kruse officiating. Interment will follow at the Neosho IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 am until noon.
