McHenry Harris

McHenry "Big Mack" Harris, 73, of Parsons, passed away at 12:19 a.m., Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Good Samaritan in Parsons.

McHenry Harris was born on October 13, 1952, in Monroe, LA, to Joseph and Katie E. (Edwards) Harris.

Upon relocating to Parsons, Kansas, he embarked on a career path that demonstrated his commitment to service and hard work. He initially worked for Individual Mausoleum and subsequently contributed his efforts at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. His most enduring professional chapter was with Power Flame, where he devoted over thirty years of service before retiring.

McHenry was more than his career; he was a man who cherished spending time with family and friends. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed the camaraderie and competition of bowling as a member of the team known as the "Homeboys," and found peace and pleasure in fishing during his leisure moments. His personality was distinguished by a genuine kindness and a welcoming nature that made all feel at home in his presence.

In his spiritual life, McHenry was a dedicated member of the Macedonia Soul-Winning Church Ministry in Parsons, where he found fellowship and solace.

McHenry married Trebie Ford and to this union the couple welcomed a son, Mike Ford.

Children; Leonard Poole and wife Jane of Carthage, Missouri

Johnny Poole and wife Jennifer of Topeka, Kansas

Lisa Poole of Wichita, Kansas

Three grandchildren—Michaela Brown and husband Charlie, Tiara Abdul-Khalliq and husband Anwar, and Erin Watson and husband Claude

numerous great-grandchildren

Three brothers; Gus Harris and wife Evelyn, Robert Harris, and Thomas Harris, all of Parsons

Two sisters; Katie B. Harris and Annie Jones with husband Kenneth, all of Parsons

Numerous nieces and nephews.

McHenry was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Joseph "Sonny" Harris, Jr.

Visitation will be June 18, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, 405 Main St, Parsons, KS 67357. The funeral service will take place on June 19, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Watson Memorial Church of God in Christ, 2215 Appleton St., Parsons, KS 67357, with burial following at Oakwood Cemetery, Parsons.
