(From Carson-Wall Funeral Home)Jerry Ray Bryant, 56, of South Mound, entered eternal rest, Thursday morning, September 30, 2021, at his residence after a short but courageous fight with cancer.
He was born on August 8, 1965, son of Bill Bryant and Sandra (Davidson) Wheeler at Ft. Scott. Jerry grew up in Arcadia Kansas and graduated from Northeast High School at Arma in 1983. He then went on to attend Ft. Scott Community College where he played baseball.
Jerry lived at Arma and worked at Dayco in Ft. Scott and then moved to Kansas City where he was a supervisor at a refinery. He later moved to South Mound and worked for Beachner Construction and Mateers trucking. He currently worked at Old Dominion for the last 15 years and has enjoyed his job and coworkers.
Jerry married Stacy (Harris) Bryant on March 17, 2006, at Girard, taking two families and merging them as one with his love and devotion.
Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, going on cruises, hanging out at his pool, his grandchildren, and traveling and camping with his wife and friends. He was also an “aspiring fisherman”. Jerry was known to his family and close friends as a gentle giant who kept his faith, strength, and fight strong till the end. He was a loving husband and father who will be missed dearly. To his children, he led with strong words but tender love and was always a safe place to turn for advice, love, or guidance. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion.
Stacy survives the home. His children who survive him are Josh (Ashley) Belknap of Parsons, KS, Nikki Martinez of Kansas City KS, Amber (Zach) Clay Cherryvale, KS, Kacy (Adam) Kite of Walnut, and Kayla Bryant of Girard, KS; his grandchildren, Janae Granere, Audrey Belknap, Jaedon Granere, Reece Clay, Autumn Belknap, Kaiden Hallacy, Jarett Belknap, Denver Hallacy, and Krew Kite; his father, Bill (Sue) Bryant of Joplin, his grandmother, Pauline Davison of Liberal, MO; his brother Micky (Jodee) Bryant of Arma, KS; his in-laws, Barbara and Phil Harris of Chetopa; of and many cousins, aunts, and uncles, nieces, nephew. While our hearts will forever miss our gentle giant and leave an emptiness in our world, we know his reunion with his son, Brandon Bryant, who preceded him in death will be a sweet reunion after 18 years of separation. He also is preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Wheeler.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2021, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Widmar officiating. Burial will follow in the South Mound Cemetery.
