Susan Porter

Susan Seabough Porter, 82 of Fayetteville, AR passed away December 21, 2023 in Fayetteville. She was born, June 17, 1941 in Springfield, MO to James Warren Seabough and Betty Jane (Pinson) Seabough.

She was a graduate of Greenwood High School in Springfield and attended Drury College and the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. In 1974 she married Max Porter and lived in Joplin, MO until 1982 when they moved to Tulsa, OK. 








While in Joplin she was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Joplin and many women's service organizations. When they moved to Tulsa she began a 31-year career managing fur salons with the majority of her career at Miss Jackson’s. She was also an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa. 

In 2013, she and Max retired in Fayetteville, AR where she’s been an active member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank her Sunday School Department and her Thursday morning bible study group for the love and encouragement they have given her in recent years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Max Porter, brother, Jim Seabough, and stepdaughter, Julia Geller.








She is survived by her son, Craig Shy and wife April of Fayetteville, AR; daughter, Allison McCrady and husband Frank of Porter, TX; step-daughter, Laura Sampson and husband John of Covington, LA; seven grandchildren: Jordan, Payton, Austin and Audrey Shy; Phillip, Christopher and Caroline McCrady; three step-grandchildren: Cody Jones and wife Allison, Laura Scott and husband Robert, and Elizabeth Porter; one step-great-grandchild: Oakley Mae Jones.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday December 27th from noon until 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville with a service beginning at 1:00 PM with Dr. Doug Falknor officiating. Private burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
