(From Parker Mortuary)Emmanuel Graves, Jr., a devout Christian, dedicated family man, and respected community member, was called to his heavenly home on August 2, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on March 30, 1949, in Kirksville, Missouri, to Emmanuel Graves, Sr. and Tillie Bozarth Graves, Emmanuel grew up in a household rich with love and faith, values that he carried throughout his life.
Emmanuel was a beacon of light to all who knew him, embodying the virtues of love, generosity, and selflessness. His life was a testament to his unwavering devotion to his family and his faith. Emmanuel served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Sue (Crane) Johnson-Graves, in 2014; his cherished son, Eddie Jo Johnson, Jr; brother, Richard Graves and a sister, Mary Ann Adams. Despite these profound losses, Emmanuel's spirit never wavered, and his legacy of love continued to shine through his surviving family members. His daughter-in-law, Pennie Johnson, and his grandchildren, Ryan, Kelsey, and Megan, along with his great-grandchildren, Landon, Harlow, Lucas, and Coraline, will forever cherish the memories and the wisdom he imparted.
Additionally, Emmanual is survived by a brother, John Graves; sisters, Ada Bell Schoeder, Marsha Gail Burns, America Vina Lawson and Julia Elsie Cheung; and a brother in-law, Bill Adams.
For 40 years, Emmanuel served the community through his work at CFI, where he began his career as a driver and, through dedication and hard work, ascended to the role of Building Maintenance before his retirement in 2024. His colleagues knew him as a man of integrity and commitment, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of encouragement.
Emmanuel was a faithful member of James River Church in Joplin, Missouri, where he found great joy and solace in worship and fellowship. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him. He lived out the teachings of Christ daily, showing kindness and compassion to all.
A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Parker Mortuary Chapel in Joplin, Missouri.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
