Arnold Battin

Arnold Ray Battin, age 80, Asbury, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Mercy of Joplin.

Ray was born January 20, 1940 in Carl Junction, son of the late Raymond Battin and Leida Page Battin. He grew up in Carl Junction, and was a standout football player for the Carl Junction High School. 

He married his high school sweetheart, and the high school homecoming queen, Phyllis Miller, and the two lived in this area their entire life. Ray worked as a heavy equipment operator, and at times worked for the Joplin Airport, and many different contractors in this area where he specialized in creating the infrastructure of many subdivisions in Jasper County. He was devoted to his wife and son, and loved spending time with his family at their many family reunions and gatherings over the years.








In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Battin, who passed away on September 23, 2018; and his daughter, Kristi Stockum, who passed in 2012.

Ray is survived by his son, Jeffery Battin of Carl Junction, and a grandson, Josh Stockhum of Oregon; many extended family, cousins, etc. including his brother-in-law, Mike Miller of Joplin; cousins, Danny Page of Carl Junction, and R.L. Page of Kirksville, Missouri.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary with burial of his ashes next to his wife in Carl Junction Cemetery at a later date.
