Huie Birge

Mr. Huie Junior Birge, 78, of Webb City, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday evening, October 31, 2020, while at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri.

Huie entered this life on August 29, 1942, in Mason City, Illinois, born to the union of the late Huie Ancle and Edna Mona (Copas) Birge. He was raised and attended School in Fairbury, Illinois. 

From May of 1963 until September of 1966, Huie served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He loved America and was a very proud veteran. 








On October 25, 1965, he was united in marriage to Sharon Shepherd and together they have shared the last fifty-five years. They moved from Illinois to Joplin, Missouri in 1980 and later to Webb City in 2000. 

Huie was a truck driver throughout his life, retiring in 2005 after thirty plus years of trucking. He loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports and he was their biggest fan. He also enjoyed NASCAR, Cardinal Baseball and the Kansas City Chiefs.

His parents and a daughter, Mona Rose, preceded him in death.

Huie is survived by his wife, Sharon Birge of the home; two stepdaughters, Kathy Rose and husband, Bobby, of Carterville and Terri Mooneyham and husband, Mark, of Joplin; six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Stone Cemetery near Diamond, Missouri, with Kenny Arnold officiating. 

Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Chris Endicott. Mike Ray, Tommy Epperson and Robby Rose. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City.
