Keith Fiscus

Dr. Keith E. Fiscus, 95, of Joplin, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020.

Keith was born October 6, 1925 in Fredonia, Kansas to the union of the late Charles and Nellie (Allen) Fiscus. He was a 1944 graduate of Sedan High School. 

After graduating, Keith served his country faithfully in the Army during WWII, where he was a POW. 

Keith was a firm believer in the value of education. He earned his Doctorate degree from the University of Illinois and taught as a Professor at Tennessee State University before retiring. He taught Agricultural Education and served as an Academic Recruiter, where he helped students obtain the financial assistance they needed to further their education.






 

After his teaching career, Keith worked as a warehouse manager and last worked as a door greeter at the 15th Street Walmart in Joplin for over 20 years.

Keith married Pauline McCord on June 23, 1947 and together they had one son. Pauline preceded him in death on March 18, 2013. Keith was a dignified man and always understated. He was an admirable father and educator. Keith was highly intelligent, soft-spoken and always determined to do his best. His legacy will live on in those who knew and loved him.

Public viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Parker Mortuary. A private burial will take place at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery on Thursday.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
