Alma Ehrhart

Alma Genevieve Ehrhart, age 93, formerly of Joplin and Baxter Springs, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021 at her son’s home in Olathe, Kansas.

Alma was born July 5, 1928 in Miami, Oklahoma to the late Judson Hickman Weaver and Annie Alice (Landrum) Weaver. She grew up in Baxter Springs and her family moved to Joplin during her senior year in High School. She met her husband Gerald in Joplin soon after he returned from his service during World War II. She was of the Baptist faith.








Alma was a Full-Charge Bookkeeper who worked for several different companies in different industries over the years in the Chicago, Phoenix and Dallas areas. In addition, Alma and her husband owned and operated a Ben Franklin Store in Arlington Heights, Illinois from 1959-1970. They later owned and operated two card and gift shops in Tempe, Arizona from 1971-1982. 

During these periods, she often worked full-time in their stores both doing the accounting work and being very involved in their management. She retired in 1991 while living in Garland, Texas.

Alma married Gerald Ehrhart on November 2, 1946 in Columbus, Kansas. Together they shared 72 years before his passing on March 2, 2019.

Survivors include a son, David Ehrhart, Olathe, Kansas. She is also survived by her sister Marie (Weaver) Beach in Grand Island, Florida and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alma was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Ehrhart, Jr. She was also preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters except one.

Private family services will be held at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Alan McCamey will officiate.

Arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
