Christina Simon

Christina “Ryder” Simon, age 54, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Freeman West after a lengthy illness.

Chris was born September 18, 1966 in Joplin, daughter of the late Billy Leon Simon and Lois Rebecca (Williamson) Simon. She grew up in Joplin and graduated from Memorial High School in 1984. 








She worked for years at a laundry service on 7th street, and was most recently was working for Wal-Mart on W. 7th as a clerk. She was known as a fun-loving girl who loved to ride bikes, especially Harley’s (where she got her nick name). She will be greatly missed by many, including her loyal companion, Simon.

In addition to her parents, Christina was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheena Gale Simon.

Survivors include her sister, Deborah Jones and husband James of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother, Gary Lee Simon and wife Shannon of Sherrells Ford, North Carolina, sisters, Kelly Hock of Joplin, and Tonya Stanfield of Kansas City, Missouri; step-mother, Phyllis Simon of Joplin; numerous nephews and cousins.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, with private burial of her ashes at a later date in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with her daughter, Sheena.
