Richard Henning

(From Parker Mortuary)

Richard Lee Henning, age 63, of Carl Junction, received a heavenly birthday welcoming on Monday, October 16, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Richard, son of the late Willis and Genevieve (Kienzle) Henning, was born on October 16, 1960, in Kansas City, MO. He married the love of his life, Julie Sennett, in Joplin on July 21, 1983. Together, they created a family and made their home a place filled with love and laughter.

He spent 18 years ensuring the quality of Safeway Bakery and then moved on to Jasper Products, where he worked for five years until his retirement 15 years ago. Richard was a humble man, and he took great pride in providing for his family.

Richard was a family man first and foremost. A hilarious husband, father, and grandfather. He was selfless, funny, and loving man who always put others before himself. He loved animals, especially his Alaskan Malamutes, often taking them to shows and his little Pomeranians. He was an avid sports fan and outdoor enthusiast, enjoying fishing and classic muscle cars. Above all, he loved his grandchildren, who brought a spark of joy to his life. He was a hard worker, a good provider, and a loving soul who couldn't resist a good laugh. His jokes may have been corny, his laughter boisterous, but his love was sincere.

Survivors include his beloved grandchildren, Isabella “Izzy” Henning, Emaline Cantrell, and Colt Henning; wife, Julie Henning, of Carl Junction; children, Dane Henning, and his wife, Tiffany, of Carl Junction, and Jade Henning-Cantrell, and her husband, Matthew, of Joplin; brother, Carl Henning, and his wife, Bonnie, of Joplin; sister, Mary Roughton, and her husband, Richard, of Concordia; a sister-in-law, Gail Henning, of Florida; and several other siblings; and numerous extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Henning; and one sister, Marjorie Humphries.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 6:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at the conclusion of services.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
