Kay Thomas

Veronica Kay Griggs Hall Thomas, 85, of Joplin, Missouri passed peacefully in her home on April 18, 2025. She was born June 21st, 1939 in Whitesville, MO and was the youngest of 7 children.

Kay was a 1957 graduate of Layfette High School in St. Joesph, MO. After High School, she was working towards her English major at Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO. She had dreams and plans of becoming a missionary, but decided to stay home and raise her children. She then began working as a Deputy Technician for Missouri Job Service in Joplin from 1974 until retiring in 1993. She enjoyed helping others and working with the public. She was confident in her relationship with Jesus in her Evangelical Covenant Faith and looked forward to being with our Lord.








She is preceded in death by her father, Ernest Okay Griggs; mother, Annie Lee Hutson Powell Griggs; brothers and sisters, Dellie MCClain, Doris Couch, Virgil Griggs, Jimmy Griggs, Verlin Griggs and Dean Griggs; and three husbands, William Ellis Hall, Don Thomas and Harlan Grimmels.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Evelyn Stewart (husband Ronand Clyde Stewart); sons, William Jeffrey Hall and Druly Thomas (wife Gail Thomas); 13 grandchildren; and 35 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made out to the Joplin Humane Society.








Funeral Services will be held at Parker Mortuary, Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor John Mitchell officiating. Visitation begins at noon until service time. Interment to follow at Stone Cemetery in Diamond, MO.

Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
