(From Ozark Funeral Home)Marcella Kathleen Wasson Madewell, age 75, of Goodman, Missouri, formerly of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life peacefully in the comfort of her home on Thursday, April 24, 2025. She entered this life on July 12, 1949, in Plainview, Texas, one of five daughters born to the late J.W. and Nadine (Walker) Butler.
Marcella's journey led her to Lanagan, Missouri, in 1962 at the age of thirteen. She married Jimmie Ray Wasson on November 8, 1966, and together they welcomed three children into the world, Stephen, Gary and Jessica. Their love story spanned nearly five decades until Jimmie's passing on October 22, 2015. Marcella found love again and married Marvin Madewell on January 9, 2021, who remained by her side until her final days.
She spent many years serving her community, first in the cafe business and later as a grocery clerk for over twenty years. Upon her retirement, she transitioned to her true calling, being a caregiver for several loved ones during declining health and final days. She found solace in the tranquility of fishing, the joy of cooking, and the laughter that filled her home when surrounded by her beloved sisters and grandchildren. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she instilled in them the values of love, compassion, and resilience. She was a member of Crosswired Cowboy Church in Grove, Oklahoma, where she found fellowship and spiritual nourishment.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, Jimmie Wasson; two sisters, Nova Elaine Butler and Susan Marlene Talley.
Marcella is survived by her husband, Marvin Madewell of the home; her children, Stephen Ray Wasson and wife, Lisa, of Brandon, Florida, Gary Alan Wasson and wife, Kim, of Anderson, Missouri, and Jessica Leann Pratt and husband, Marcus, also of Anderson. Marcella's legacy continues through her seven grandchildren, Andrew, Keaton, Raegon, Maggie, Lane, Ellysia, and Chance; and her three great-grandchildren, Jameson, Betsy, and Kalia. She also leaves behind two sisters, Ava Jeanene Mathia and husband, Jim, of Grove, Oklahoma, and Deborah Dorlene Smith, also of Grove, along with a host of other family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025 at Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri with Pastor Russell Brisco officiating. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Andrew Wasson, Keaton Wasson, Chance Wasson, Lane Pratt, Carson Hoth, AJ Madewell and Tyler Madewell. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Memorials are being directed to New Bethel Cemetery Care Fund c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
