Lloyd Kahl

Lloyd Aaron Kahl, 97, Avilla, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Missouri. He was born on October 14, 1928, in Avilla, Missouri, the son of the late Herbert and Edna (McDonald) Kahl. Lloyd was a proud graduate of Carthage High School, class of 1946. 

His commitment to service was evident early on as he answered the call of duty during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army. Upon returning home, Lloyd married Gattye Pannell on December 28, 1952, in Aurora, Missouri, and together they embraced the life of a dairy farmer, a profession that showcased his strong work ethic and deep connection to the land.








Lloyd was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage, where he cultivated lifelong friendships. Lloyd's interests were as grounded and robust as his personality. In his younger years, he enjoyed the competitive spirit of bowling and the all-American pastime of baseball. As time passed, he found solace and joy in gardening, nurturing the earth and taking pride in the fruits of his labor. In later years, Lloyd enjoyed woodworking and created many beautiful pieces.

He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gattye Kahl, his granddaughter Tiffany Peterson, and his siblings Herbert, Charles, and Bill Kahl, and sister Faye Collier, Lloyd's legacy continues through his loving family. 






He is survived by his children, Ron Kahl (Amy) of Carthage, Missouri, Rita Peterson (Steven) of Carthage, Missouri, and Gina Simmons of Avilla, Missouri; his four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories and lessons he imparted.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. The burial will follow at the Avilla Cemetery, Avilla, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until service time at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
