(From Clark Funeral Home)Margaret Jean Ritter Crook was born October 4, 1931. She passed away October 17, 2025 at the age of 94 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Ft. Stockton, TX to Dan & Edna Ritter, she attended school in Sterling City, TX, graduating in 1949. She then went to college at Texas Women's University in Denton, TX, where she graduated with a teaching degree in 1953.
She taught school at San Angelo High School where she met the love of her life, E.A. Crook. They married on June 1, 1955. They were married 43 years until his passing in 1998.
She taught at several schools in Texas as life took them on various adventures. Their only son James was born while they lived in Sterling City. Margaret taught at Midland, from 1964 until 1980 when they moved to Fairview, MO.
She taught school a few more years before raising turkeys on the family farm. She was a member of the Stella Baptist Church. She was very involved with the Stella Senior Citizens where she helped run the kitchen for several years. She loved going to flea markets and “the variety store”, also known as Dollar General.
She is survived by her son James & his wife Robin of Stella, MO, grandson Justin & wife Ivy of Jasper, MO, granddaughter Keely of Fairview, MO, and six great-grandchildren, Kenzie Crook, along with her mother Kristin, Kaulin Ogle, Ellie Crook, Lyla Crook, Derrick Crook, and Paityn Nelson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband E.A. & infant grandson Travis Crook.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 6:00pm-7:30pm at Clark Funeral Home – Granby Chapel. A funeral service will be held October 22, 2025 at 10:00am, also at Clark Funeral Home – Granby Chapel. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
