(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Ronnie Keaton McCallister, age 86, of Galena, Kansas passed away on Sunday, October 19th at his home surrounded by family.
Ronnie was born November 8, 1938, in Pittsburg, Kansas to the late A. Keaton McCallister and Birdie Elizabeth Crane. He was united in marriage to Alberta Fietz on June 22,1957 in Lusk, Wyoming. To that union three children were born.
Ronnie worked for ICI Explosives USA and retired in 1993. Ronnie loved spending time with his family, eating out at restaurants and living on his farm. He was a long-time member of the Baxter Lion’s Club and the Baxter Duck Club. Ronnie was a proud member of the Quapaw Nation.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his sister Jolene Heaton and son, Keaton Jeffrey McCallister.
He is survived by his wife Alberta of 68 years; two children: Lesli Spencer (husband Richard) of Kansas City, MO and Lisa McCallister of Joplin, MO; six grandchildren: Nicole Soard of Kansas City, MO, Megan Jones of Kansas City, MO, Mishelle Aust of Monett, MO, Hannah Kovar of Miami Florida, Jackson Dinger of Oronogo, MO and Koby Smith McCallister of Baxter Springs, KS; niece Jolene Elizabeth Bracy of Austin, TX; 3 great grandchildren: Chloe and Nash Harper of Kansas City, MO and Aubree Aust of Monett, MO.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home of Baxter Springs, KS. Services will be held Friday October 24, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Galena United Methodist Church with graveside services in Lowell, KS.
