David and Linda Cook

Linda Sue Cook, 75, of Webb City, Missouri, passed away on October 6, 2026, after an extended illness.

She was born on January 14, 1951, in Oronogo, Missouri, to the late William L. Carey, Sr. and Phyllis J. (Hostetter) Carey. Linda grew up with the values of hard work, kindness, and family devotion that would remain at the center of her life. She graduated from Webb City High School in 1969 and carried the lessons of her upbringing into every season of her life.







Linda was a homemaker, and she embraced that role with grace and dedication. She found joy in caring for her home and in creating a warm and welcoming place for those she loved. Her life was marked by quiet strength and steady devotion, and she was known by those around her as loving, generous, and selfless. She gave of herself freely and consistently, always placing the needs of others before her own.

Family was the heart of Linda's life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, David C. Cook,  and her brothers, Alan and Mike Carey. She is survived by her daughter, Heather Osborn and her husband, Lonnie, of Jasper, Missouri; her son David C. Cook II and his wife, Heidi, of Webb City, Missouri; her daughter Brandi Harmon and her husband, Darren, of Carl Junction, Missouri; her step-daughters, Wyndi Ferguson of Porterville, California, and Holly Tucker and her husband, Tracy, of Florence, Oregon; her brother, Bill Carey of Lenexa, Kansas; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She treasured each member of her family and took great pride in the generations that followed her.

Linda especially enjoyed drawing and crafting, and she had a creative spirit that brought beauty and warmth into the lives of others. She also cherished spending time with her grandchildren, and those moments were among the most meaningful of her life. Whether sharing a quiet conversation, working on a craft, or simply being present with her family, she made ordinary moments feel special. Her gentle nature and caring heart left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Graveside services will be Friday, October 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Oronogo Cemetery, Oronogo, Missouri.  Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Hedge-Lewis Goodwin Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Solace House of the Ozarks.

David Carroll Cook, age 83, of Webb City, Missouri, passed away on October 4, 2026, in Joplin, Missouri, following an extended illness. He was born on July 21, 1943, in Carthage, Missouri, and lived a life marked by service, hard work, devotion to family, and a love of the outdoors.

David was the son of the late Irving and Dorothy Cook. He grew up with strong family values that remained with him throughout his life. He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael "Mick" Cook. He was briefly survived by his beloved wife, Linda Sue (Carey) Cook, who passed two days later. He is survived by his daughters, Holly Tucker and Tracy of Florence Oregon; Wyndi Ferguson of Porterville, California; Heather Osborn and Lonnie of Jasper, Missouri; his son David C. Cook II, and wife Heidi of Webb City, Missouri; his daughter Brandi Harmon and Darren of Carl Junction, Missouri; and his brother, Joe Cook and Lois of Carl Junction, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

David graduated from Alba High School in 1961. Shortly after school, he entered the United States Navy, where he served his country honorably. His time in the Navy reflected the same sense of duty and commitment that guided him throughout his life. After his military service, he returned home and became a Webb City fireman, serving his community with courage and dedication. He later retired from F.A.G. Bearings in Joplin, Missouri, after years of faithful work and dependable service.

Those who knew David will remember him as adventurous, handy, and wise. He had a practical nature and a steady presence that others could rely on. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially when fishing and hunting, and he found great joy in the simple pleasures of time spent in nature. Whether he was working with his hands, sharing advice, or spending time with loved ones, David brought strength and warmth to those around him.

Family was an important part of David's life, and he treasured the bonds he shared with those closest to him. He was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and he valued every opportunity to be with them. His life was one of quiet example, showing the importance of responsibility, perseverance, and love for family.

A committal of ashes will take place on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Oronogo Cemetery in Oronogo, Missouri. Family will receive friends Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Hedge-Lewis Goodwin Funeral Home.
